My personality is loud. 🔥🌪️💥🤷🏻

I didn’t appreciate academia until my mid-twenties. Not by lack of interest, but distrust and abandonment. I’m not the type of neurodivergent who excelled due to my niche interests, I am the embodiment of those who fell behind only to be written off as a lazy, lost cause. This is simply how it goes; children are responsible for themselves when they lack support.

There was a place for me, though. I immersed myself into the public school art department, every moment that mattered was spent creating. I explored everything from fine arts to graphic design, mixed media workshops to creative writing.

When school got easy for me, it was because I went to college on my own terms—as a storyteller. I’m no genius, but I take pride in critical thinking and media literacy. I approach my thoughts with nuance, knowing that many conflicting truths can coexist in the same space. Through tension and harmony, I seek a path forward and therefor I try to solve problems with words.

In the pit of my stomach, I am a creative and I wish to do nothing else. I am a writer, one who has been both a failure and a success on paper. I’ve experienced it all from the same set of dice. If that means something, I’ll let you know when I find out.
